According to Digital Undivided, less than 0.006% of startup fundraising goes to Black women-owned businesses. That’s even though Black women are some of the most entrepreneurial Americans!

That’s why Beatrice Dixon, CEO of Honey Pot, hoped her success could inspire young Black girls. But she never expected the intense backlash she’d get for saying so.

Honey Pot was featured in a recent Black History Month-themed Target commercial, where Dixon talked about her brand and her hopes for empowerment of Black girl entrepreneurs.

White people were PRESSED. And they took to their keyboards to try and bring Dixon down.

The company received thousands of one-star reviews on social media and ratings websites, calling the ad and company racist for making a product “exclusively for Black women.”

That wouldn’t have been a problem anyway, but she didn’t even say that! Not only were the critics wrong, their anger BACKFIRED - big time.

Our people SHOWED UP in support, countering the negative reviews AND supporting the business - nearly doubling their revenue and selling out countless Target stores!

We’ll never please racists. A better option is counting on our own folks! When we show up like this to support each other, we can all succeed and thrive despite the barriers they put up against us!
