Christian Cooper was doing what he enjoys - bird watching - when he ran into a problem he’s encountered before: someone with an unleashed dog.
Unleashed dogs are not allowed in this park, so he asked her to leash it. How she responded incited everyone’s outrage.
She called the police on Christian, all the while nearly choking her dog. “I’m going to tell them there’s an African-American man threatening my life,” she squawked.
She wanted him to know that cop call could get him locked up or killed. Nonetheless, Christian encouraged her to do so. And then the unexpected happened.
Christian’s recorded video of the incident went viral, and people across the board - conservative and liberal, Black and white - all agreed she was weaponizing the police.
The call could have ended in police killing another Black man, and she knew it. But it backfired, big time.
She lost her job AND lost her dog! People were disgusted by her playing the white victim card like so many white people before her. Now it’s clear that she made a huge mistake - and Christian’s reaction has also surprised some.
Christian has expressed some pity for Amy - after she tried to attack him using the police for absolutely nothing! Whether forgiveness is your thing or not, she was threatening his life. This woman and anyone else like her needs to learn to leave us alone.
