It's Time To Be More Critical About Who We Invite To The Cookout

Bill Clinton

Don’t be fooled by his saxophone playing. Bill Clinton - who folks once lovingly called the “first Black president” - was not a man for us. He passed the 1994 crime bill, after all, which heightened mass incarceration and targeted, profiled, and locked up Black people at unjustly high rates.

Joe Biden

Despite being VP to and best buddies with former President Barack Obama, Joe Biden has a track record of anti-Blackness. Most infamously was his role in berating Anita Hill and in creating the 1994 crime bill mentioned above - a racist law that still crudely impacts us today.

Be sure to keep that in mind when voting in 2020!

Justin Timberlake

We all remember his notorious 2004 Super Bowl performance with Janet Jackson. There was immediate backlash after the wardrobe malfunction seen around the world - all of it aimed at Ms. Jackson.

Timberlake used his good ol’ white privilege and threw her under the bus. His R&B career soared thereafter.

Sabrina Claudio

Past tweets from this R&B songbird displayed her deep disdain for women of color. In the typical style of white women who love Black men but hate Black women, her derogatory tweets about Black women’s bodies and use of the n-word prove just because someone participates in Black culture, doesn’t mean they love Black people.

Kian Lawley

After being cast in the acclaimed film “The Hate U Give,” a racist video starring Lawley resurfaced, where he made grossly stereotypical comments, such as:

“We’re all Black drinking purple Kool-aid and eating Kentucky fried motherf--king chicken.” Disgusting.
