Police From All Over Joined Capitol Attack

2021 storming of the US Capitol

As a coup attempt laid siege on the nation’s Capitol, the world watched in horror. Terrorists gained fairly easy access to grounds that are supposed to be extremely secure, but the story of how that happened is still unfolding.

The Capitol siege revealed a level of complacency with many officers, who allowed the right-wing onslaught to go on – while others were beaten by the mob, many of whom were ironically carrying “blue lives matter” flags.

Now, new information shows police were deep on both sides.

In addition to letting the violence advance, so far over two dozen police from 11 states have been identified as part of the mob.

And that’s not all: it was cheered on by the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and the son of a prominent judge was there, too!

The “few bad apples” narrative that's perpetuated about policing and the criminal legal system misleads people into thinking racism is an isolated incident. What happened at the Capitol shows that active white supremacists and their families are a significant portion of police forces. It’s not a conspiracy.

To overcome police brutality, we have to retire the idea that policing is reliable. The institution was shaped through white supremacy! White supremacists haven’t “infiltrated” – they’re a fundamental part, and that’s why the system is rotten to the core.
