Serena Williams’ newly launched venture capital investment firm, Serena Ventures, “invests in companies that embrace diverse leadership, individual empowerment, creativity and opportunity.”
It has been quietly supplying businesses led by industry underdogs - including Black women - with the financial and interpersonal resources to excel since 2014.
This year, word finally got out that she’s ready to add more startups to her 30-company roster.
The firm provides early stage investments (e.g. funding, mentorship, and networking opportunities) to companies across categories such as e-commerce, food and beverage, fashion, personal finance, wellness, and more.
These are the bold ideas that often go underfunded and ignored unless a young white male is leading the way.
In fact, it’s no secret that Silicon Valley has a diversity problem.
Until investors realize that they’re only hurting themselves by rejecting the fresh ideas Black business leaders offer, we’re gonna continue to be great alongside change agents who get it.
With Serena’s ambitious and generous guidance building up these young companies’ operations, the world better watch out!
We know what this unstoppable woman is capable of when she applies her passion to work on an “impossible” dream.
