Taraji P. Henson is fighting to eliminate mental health stigma. With her Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation, named for her father, she’s organized summits, has a directory of Black mental health providers, and even offers free online resources during the pandemic.

Their mission is to eliminate the stigma of mental illness in our community.

Breakfast Club co-host Charlamagne Tha God also advocates for normalizing mental health services

“...[W]e think there’s something wrong with therapy which is so weird because … you don’t have no problem if you’re out of shape, going to the gym.”

You may have heard Michelle Williams open up about depression. In 2018, Michelle became so depressed that she checked herself into a treatment facility:

“I was slipping and slipping and slipping [and] before you knew it I was at the bottom of the pit looking up like, 'Am I really here again?' And I suffered by myself. I didn't want to tell anybody.”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a major Hollywood tough guy, but you may not know that even he faced depression: “Took me a long time to realize it but the key is to not be afraid to open up.”

We go through SO MUCH – so breaking the mental health stigma needs to be a top priority so we can have happy and strong communities!
