A new United Nations (UN) report takes aim at the U.S.and its racist handling and design of the criminal justice system. Through this report, United Nations experts reveal to the world the true nature of legal justice in this country.
Experts at the UN including Juan Mendez, called for the need for justice reforms declaring, “Our findings point to the critical need for comprehensive reform.” But that's not all the report found.
The report gave special attention to the “bad apple” theory and rejected it outright. The UN concluded that the abusive behavior of individual police officers was a part of a broader issue within the criminal justice system.
The UN has called the U.S. out in the past for its criminal justice atrocities. However, little has been done so far in terms of consequences or a true acknowledgement by this country. So what can we do with a significant report like this?
Reports like this can help to illuminate the systemic issues that plague our collective freedom struggle. It can help us build solidarity with others in the diaspora and can work to increase international efforts for change on a global scale.
