When it comes to STEM, women and girls are terribly underrepresented - women make up less than a THIRD of those working in scientific research and development fields, according to Catalyst.org.

Steph Curry launched a program for girls interested in science, technology, education, and math (STEM) careers through the Steph and Ayesha Curry Foundation - after being called out by a precocious nine year old!

Nine-year-old Riley Morrison wrote to Curry, expressing her disappointment that his Under Armour sneaker was unavailable in girls’ sizes. Curry quickly fixed that.

He collaborated with Morrison to design the new Curry 6 United We Win shoe, with profits from shoe sales going towards an annual $30,000 scholarship to a girl from the San Francisco Bay Area to pursue STEM. This year’s recipient was Vivian Wu.

“I was immediately impressed when I saw Riley’s letter, that a 9-year-old girl had the courage to use her voice to call attention to an issue and keep us accountable,” Curry said in a statement.

This is such an awesome effort by the Currys to use their platform to support girls who want to pursue STEM - let's applaud them and encourage our girls to keep aspiring for more!
