When Dr. Dale Okorodudu saw that fewer Black men were applying to the medical profession, he decided to do something. In collaboration with his brother and medical school friend, he posted a YouTube video about their experiences as Black men physicians.

The video eventually led to Dr. Okorodudu founding the organization called Black Men in White Coats.

“Our mission is to inspire the next generation of physician leaders and to diversify the field of medicine with a special emphasis on Black males,” Dr. Okorodudu said.

When it comes to inspiring Black men to enter medicine, The Black Men in White Coats is thorough! Their website features a podcast, mentoring opportunities, documentaries, and even a youth summit!

In fact, their youth summit gathered over 1,400 students, parents, educators, clinicians, and community leaders to expose children of all ages to resources and connections in the medical field.

Our youth need ALL the inspiration they can get, and since Black patients do better with Black doctors, this can only be a positive action for our communities. We applaud Dr. Dale Okorodudu for his very noble efforts!
