Krystal Archie is suing the city of Chicago with good reason: The CPD has terrorized Black families in traumatizing raids that target them, children included. This emerging pattern has happened to several families, but Krysal’s case has a disturbing detail that sets her apart.

Police have raided her home THREE TIMES IN FOUR MONTHS. Accident? It doesn’t sound like it. According to CBS 2 Chicago, “It’s the sixth civil rights complaint Hofeld has filed against Chicago Police.” CBS has uncovered several Black families targeted this way.

Krystal and her three children are just the latest victims. These raids traumatize children by treating them as suspects, handcuffing them, abusing their parents, and even cursing at and pointing guns at them. There are multiple lawsuits and even legislation to make the police STOP doing this.

It’s become increasingly clear that Chicago’s police don’t care. They’re still raiding the wrong homes and causing the city to pay out MILLIONS in misconduct lawsuits. It’s fair for people to ask why this is okay and why the police have the power to escape accountability.

Black people’s tax dollars in Chicago are paying for lawsuits that are caused by reckless and racist police. The people being victimized by the dangerousness of Chicago Police Department shouldn’t be responsible for paying, but unfortunately the cops are still getting away with this!
