You may have seen a lot before, but have you ever seen a Black police chief defend white supremacists? Well, look no further. It happened in Detroit and the outrage is real. Not only did cops defend Nazis, they blamed the people protesting against them too! And it gets worse.
Black people were among those counter-protesting a Nazi group interrupting the Pride parade in Detroit, and guess what Detroit Police Chief James Craig said? “Both sides were wrong.” YIKES! Does he actually believe this is a “both sides” matter?
Chief Craig’s comments were eerily similar to Donald Trump’s after the “Unite The Right” white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, where police also escorted and protected white supremacists to allow them to express their hate speech and to avoid conflict. But are our tax dollars being well spent this way?
The same thing happened recently in DC. Huffpost reported Nazis got the red carpet treatment at the 2018 “Unite the Right II” rally, which included a private train car and a private entrance to the park. Maybe police don’t dislike Nazis after all?
Federal authorities and groups that track the movements of white supremacists have been documenting for years how police are being infiltrated by white supremacists. Between this and the anti-Black, racist criminal justice system, we have to be careful out here!
