Neptune moved into Aries on January 26, and will stay there for the next 13 years. This story isn't about astrology, although that's Black history too. The last time this astrological placement happened was 1861, the year the Civil War began. Here's what that has to do with us.
We know the whitewashed textbook narrative about the Civil War, which was about honorable men protecting their communities and "Southern heritage." In actuality, it was a conscious effort to continue Black bondage.
During that time, one of our fiercest leaders, Harriet Tubman, who looked to the stars for guidance on her Underground Railroad journeys, was a Union spy and nurse. Of course, she was fighting for our people.
Tubman spent years in Beaufort, South Carolina, nursing Black soldiers and recently freed people. On June 2,1863, she led the Combahee Ferry Raid, where, alongside 150 Black soldiers, she rescued more than 700 enslaved people. It was a potent time for change, and Tubman leaned into that energy and did what needed to be done for our people. We have the power to do the same.
Let's use the energy of this moment to push for our own liberated Black futures, together and strategically. Close your eyes and imagine all that we can bring to life to better Black lives in the next 13 years while this transit takes place.
