Grammy-award winning musician Pharrell Williams teamed up with Atomic Entertainment to executive produce “Brainchild,” a children’s program streaming now on Netflix.

Through, according to Variety, “interactive games, experimentation, and various skits,” this brainchild of a series teaches kids the core principles of STEAM, science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.

But what’s best about this show is that its target audience is children of color!

Access to STEAM learning is typically reserved for the wealthy. Schools in urban and rural communities around the nation lack the necessary resources to provide high-quality math and science courses.

On top of that, economic disadvantages disallow many Black parents to send their children to science camps and other programs.

“Brainchild,” however, will serve as a rare door into the world of STEAM for Black kids.

Even if teachers don’t have Netflix, free content is accessible for download to integrate into their curriculum.

As Pharrell put it, “We must edu-tain.”

What our children learn today will impact the future progress of this nation and the Black community. Getting an entertaining and educational STEAM-centered TV show like this in front of Black kids will only brighten that future!
