The Mallerys were just tending to their Colorado ranch when racists began harassing them by calling the cops. After months of complaints, it was the Mallerys who were arrested. All they wanted was peace, but they got a court date instead.

Not a day goes by that some Karen, usually with a lousy haircut, gets caught in her feelings and calls the police on an innocent Black person. They know they’re jeopardizing our lives, but they don’t care.

The Mallerys and the NAACP have pushed to have the CAREN Act passed as law in Colorado. Caren stands for Caution Against Racially Exploitative Non-Emergencies. Similar laws are already on the books in San Francisco, New York, and New Jersey. If enacted, racially-motivated calls from Kens and Karens would be illegal.

Studies have proven that race-related stress is wreaking havoc on Black people across America. These calls add to the psychological, physical, and emotional stress we must endure.

It’s time to end this nonsense once and for all. Being Black isn’t a crime.
