When it comes to the 2020 presidential election, it’s clear that everyone is a little bit nervous. Why? Because we can’t let Trump’s DISASTROUS presidency go on for another four years. Black women could be a major force in preventing that, but do Democratic candidates respect this fact?

Over 90% of Black women voted against Trump in the 2020 election. This led Black women to be recognized as a key voting bloc to mobilize for a win. The issues at stake mean a lot to the larger Black community and the barriers we face.

Voting rights, criminal justice reform, healthcare, and reparations are just a few of the important conversations floating around this election. If a democratic candidate wants Black women’s votes, they’re going to have to show just how they’ll deliver on their promises.

According to Vox, “African American women voters were credited with helping a wave of black women win more than 20 seats in Congress.” It doesn’t just stop there either. Black women voted at a higher rate than any other voting bloc in the 2008 and 2012 elections!

It’s not on Black women alone. Everyone has a role to play if we want someone better as POTUS. Still, it’s very clear that Black women have been taking a strong lead when it comes to setting an example of how to make a change.
