Voting is a pretty involved process. Keeping up with registration deadlines, paperwork, polling station hours, and more - who can navigate all that without getting discouraged?!

Instead, Black Voters Matter is using the platform Motivote to encourage real friends to team up with a voting action plan for success.

In Virginia’s game-changing election, a coalition of organizers under the BVM umbrella used Motivote to drive voter turnout in a so-called "off off-year" election. And they plan to shock the nation in Louisiana this week, too.

Motivote generates bite-sized tasks to complete, in real-time, so you can earn points while you mark election day on your calendar, look for polling locations, review sample ballots, etc.

“[Motivote] is better than just generically telling your friends to go vote," says BVM VA state coordinator Charles Black. "It's a tool that makes voting fun and interactive.”

I don’t know what’s better: celebrating your progress with rewards like comfy BVM gear (hey, the first 50 players to get 5 friends on their team earn a free BVM hoodie!) and delicious Ben & Jerry's ice cream or the “I Voted” selfie you’ll flaunt with pride knowing that NO ONE can deny your right to be heard.

Voters in Louisiana definitely need to join BVM's voting team and invite your network to amplify your power just in time for the gubernatorial run-off on Saturday, November 16th.

Not based in LA, but know someone who is? Encourage them to join here as an easy way for you to make sure they're ready to vote too.
