Census enumerator on neighborhood street

In an economy like this, having a side hustle helps. And one particular job is the perfect way to make extra coin while helping the Black community.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, census takers (also known as enumerators) are temporary federal employees who “visit the homes of individuals who do not complete and return a census questionnaire.” The role offers weekly paydays, hourly rates from $15-30/hr, and flexible evening and weekend shifts - but that’s not even the best part.

The conversations enumerators have with community members provide the info key decision-makers need to affect CHANGE.

Local, state and federal public servants need an accurate count to confidently make all kinds of decisions about political representation, public transit, childcare, school resources, and business development to supply more jobs! This can DIRECTLY help our people!

Sounds amazing, but before you apply, remember this:

A census taker might be paying YOU a visit too! Don’t worry, though. Your business is safe. By law, if a census employee shared any of your information with an outside party, they’ll face fines and imprisonment.… Okay, let’s say you’re interested. What’s next?

Ultimately, we need community members eager to keep the bigger picture in mind by paying their neighbors a home visit, emphasizing their significance, and making sure every Black life matters - through Census 2020!

February is peak hiring season, so visit Census2020.gov/jobs to apply!
