The enormous Roman army soon reorganized and counterattacked, overcoming Queen Amanirenas and her forces — a Roman soldier even plucked out one of her eyes!
Many of her people were enslaved and sold among the Romans. But that’s where it gets interesting.
For three years straight, Amanirenas waged war on the Romans! She came back repeatedly, even after defeats. Though she lost many battles, she NEVER gave up. The Romans eventually signed a peace treaty with Kush! The best part?
They returned all they had taken from the queen and her people. Queen Amanirenas and her kingdom of Kush were left in peace!
