Rule Breaker: Growing up, Tito Jackson ignored many of his father’s rules. Joe Jackson had ordered his children not to touch his guitar, but Tito couldn’t help himself and secretly learned how to play it. After breaking one of the guitar strings, Tito was forced to face the music. But Joe’s frustration turned to wonder as he realized his children’s artistic potential.

Hot 100: In 1968, the Jackson 5 were signed to Motown Records. Their first four singles all reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. They were the first musical group ever to do this.

Solo Career: Tito was the last Jackson to release a solo project. He released “Tito Time” in 2016. He’d held off on the project because he’d wanted to be intentional about raising his three sons, helping them start their own music group, 3T.

Tulsa: Tito purchased a home near Tulsa to honor his uncle, Samuel Jackson, who’d opened Jackson Undertaking Co. in Tulsa in 1917. The company was destroyed in the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 but was later rebuilt.

Legacy: Tito Jackson’s legacy reminds us to stay curious, take our time, be intentional with family, honor legacy, and express gratitude through it all.
