Census 2020 is here to make sure we get all the political representation, financial aid, and local economic development our robust population numbers deserve. But stay alert, as this public health concern is already altering the original plan….
To help “slow the spread of coronavirus,” the U.S. Census Bureau recently paused all census field operations until April 1.
Without these on-the-ground campaigns, whose purpose it is to make sure everyone is sure to be counted, our communities could be put at risk of an undercount. But this doesn’t mean all hope is lost!
In fact, as we all prioritize staying at home - and thereby decreasing our chances of harmful exposure - now is the best time to fill out the census questionnaire already mailed to residences. We can even encourage family and friends near and far to do the same!
