New Effort Targets Protests With Harsher Punishments

Protestors in Tenneessee

States around the country have responded to protests in a variety of ways. One state is responding in a MEDIEVAL way – by trying to punish protesters for exercising what’s supposed to be a right!

How they’re doing it has shocked many people nationwide.

Tennessee protesters set up an encampment at the state capitol. They tore down a statue of Edward Carmack, a racist who incited a mob against Ida B. Wells for her anti-lynching work.

Protesters renamed the location Ida B. Wells Plaza! Now authorities are mad.

In an effort to criminalize protesters, they’ve passed legislation making it a felony to camp overnight!

This could mean up to SIX years in prison and a loss of voting rights. The goals of the protesters make it clear why the state is so threatened.

The People’s Plaza” is a movement with clear goals to pressure the governor, remove confederate monuments, as well as defund and demilitarize the police.

The Tennessee political establishment is so threatened, they’ve responded in sinister ways! But it’s not over.

Movements like the one happening in Nashville are looked over by the media and attacked by political authorities – because they’re effective! They’re trying to stop these protesters before they gain too much ground. We can’t let them take away our rights like this.
