Keith Bush was convicted of murder in 1975 at the age of 17. He said he was innocent for years, but it wasn’t until just now that the truth came out.

The police withheld evidence and BEAT a confession out of him. He wouldn’t confess again during parole hearings and it resulted in a DOZEN years added to his sentence.

USA Today reports retired homicide detective August Stahl, who helped lock Keith up, was asked about the case. His reply? “That f**cking n*gger did it, there is no doubt about it; he should have been executed for it.”

DNA evidence conflicted with what the police said happened.

Now, after being released in 2007, his conviction has FINALLY been overturned. Keith is 62.

There are more people out there like Keith, and they all need to be freed. But we also need a criminal justice system that doesn’t allow this to happen in the first place.
