When Dnigma Howard was attacked, she was at a place you expect children to be safe: school. She wasn’t assaulted by an intruder, a teacher, or even another student. It was a cop!
Luckily, this unjustifiable crime was caught on tape.
As depicted in video footage, Dnigma, a special needs student at Marshall High, was grabbed by a school officer unprovoked. He then proceeded to shove her toward a flight of stairs, stairs he then DRAGGED her down by her legs. From there, things only got worse.
The officer proceeded to kick, punch, step on, and ultimately tase Dnigma. And when her dad showed up, officers confronted him, yelling, “Your daughter is going to jail!” in unprofessional rage.
Felony charges were brought against Dnigma for trying to defend herself. But those charges were dropped and the cops removed from the school... but things are far from over.
She’s suing since surveillance video shows that what the officers said happened wasn’t true! Contradictory to their claims, there was NO need for excessive force.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is busy investigating, but it’s sad that Dnigma was abused at all. Fortunately, it was caught on tape. If it hadn’t been recorded, would anyone have believed her?
Probably not - even though school is supposed to be a SAFE place for our kids.
