Questions After A Black Child's Suspicious Death

When Quawan Charles went missing on October 30, 2020 from his father’s home in Baldwin, Louisiana, the police did NOT take the issue seriously. They came off as nonchalant!

Then his body was found on November 3rd – and there are LOTS of unanswered questions.

Gruesome images circulating online of Quawan’s body have drawn comparisons to Emmett Till. His body was found in a sugarcane field 20 miles from home. Authorities say he drowned, but that just doesn’t add up.

Quawan’s face was BADLY disfigured. The family learned that Quawan had been with a white friend and his mother – but they had never given this white family permission to pick up their son!

Now that family has left town, and people are suspicious for good reason.

Quawan’s death is being investigated as a homicide, and the family and activists have called for an independent autopsy and investigation

Family attorneys have also pointed to the fact that authorities did NOT prioritize investigating his disappearance!

Quawan’s killing took place in Iberia Parish Sheriff’s jurisdiction – the same place a Black judge was targeted for speaking out against racism.

The trust is just not there for the authorities to handle the situation the way they have been. Black people regularly have to take matters into our own hands to get justice. We can only hope this family uncovers the truth and finds peace.
