The Reality Of What Cops Do Online Is Really Scary

Hundreds, yes HUNDREDS, of police officers were found to be in HATE GROUPS on Facebook - and that’s just the ones we know of, thanks to a report from Reveal News. They showed cops at “every level of American law enforcement” and it’s causing some backlash.

The police are in closed groups on Facebook, so that means Reveal had to join these groups to expose the officers. After joining dozens, they found hundreds of cops, both active duty and retired, expressing racism, sexism, homophobia, islamophobia, and much more!

These are officers that are supposed to “protect and serve,” of course. How can officers be expected to protect us when they think we’re not even human beings? The exposé has officers being pulled from duty, investigated, and hearings are being held.

Is that enough? Does a person that jokes about Black people all being criminals or all Muslims being terrorists or makes fun of sexual assault need to be a cop? We think NOT. No one who’s acting like this needs to have the power to kill and arrest people at will.

It’s so bad that in Philadelphia alone, 72 officers have been pulled from the streets over their posts on Facebook.

It’s good to see these cops be exposed, but if they’re all just going to get a slap on the wrist, that’s even more troubling. Only time will tell.
