Trump is up to his same old racist shenanigans.
The Constitution makes it clear that every 10 years, every person living in America needs to be counted. That’s how representation in congress is decided, how funding for tons of social programs are decided, and much more.
So why is Trump trying to sabotage this? You can probably guess.
First, he wanted to add a citizenship question to the Census, which would decrease immigrant turnout - including Black immigrants from Africa, the Caribbean, Central America, and elsewhere.
Luckily, he failed. But he wasn’t done.
Republicans were caught sending out FAKE Census mailers so they could confuse the elderly into donating to the Republican party instead of filling out the real Census!
They even tried to add a question about criminal records to the Census! Since we’re most impacted by the racist “justice” system, this type of question would discourage tons of Black people from participating.
We tend to get undercounted in the MILLIONS, and that’s just how Trump and them want it.
When we’re not counted, we lose power. The only way we can fight back is to fill out the Census. You can even get a side job helping folks in your neighborhood fill theirs out.
We can’t let Trump win! Fight back by making sure you and yours are counted.
