Now that pandemic restrictions have lifted, Marcus and Jazz were having an argument with their good friend Nikole about the best places to go on vacation. While they wanted to pick a place with beautiful scenery, Nikole thought they should do a bit of research first about how Black travelers were treated.

They were both right! Here’s what they came up with.

St. Kitts and Nevis, in the Caribbean, has some of the most beautiful beaches, and Black people, in the world. There are also mountains, rich cultural traditions, and plenty of historical sites to visit. But what if you’re looking for cooler weather?

Iceland, known for snowy landscapes and the Northern Lights, is also safe for Black travelers. Of course, there might be stares as not many Black people live there, but overall the people appreciate Black visitors. They certainly stood in solidarity with Black Lives Matter. And what about the Motherland?

Ghana is one of the most beautiful African countries, as well as one with ties to Black American ancestry. And who knows? Maybe you’ll move there, like a growing number of our people have decided to! They’ve already invited us.

We have every right to enjoy ourselves and travel wherever we wish. These places remind us that Black is indeed beautiful. We should spend our resources where we’re welcomed. Safe travels!
