There are over 900 hate groups in the U.S. While many are small, they have political power and want to make the U.S. a white supremacist nation. Even worse, these groups have been growing steadily since 2014!
#1: The Base
This group has one goal: sparking a race war. In November 2021, two of their members were sentenced to 9 years in prison for conspiring to murder Black people and planning to destroy the U.S. government.
#2: Proud Boys
Described as a street gang, this radical right-wing group desires an all-white nation. They do not believe white people should feel guilty about their role in enslavement, nor do they believe in being “politically correct” to non-white, non-right wing citizens.
#3: Oath Keepers
This is one of the largest fringe groups in the U.S., and they are violent. Their members are largely ex-military veterans and law enforcement. Ironically, they support the U.S. Constitution but are staunchly anti-government. A breeding ground for outlandish conspiracy theories, they are confrontational and have been involved in numerous stand-offs with law enforcement.
White nationalists are as American as apple pie, but there's nothing sweet about them. They are constantly being created and finding new ways to oppress or bring harm to us. Being informed and vigilant is the best way we can protect ourselves!
