Over the last couple of years, millions of Black voters have been purged from voter rolls in America, and it’s not a coincidence.

The Leadership Conference on Human and Civil Rights and hundreds of other organizations believe that we’re experiencing “democracy in peril.” And they want to change it.

They recently released “Vision for Democracy,” their platform for saving our democracy and ensuring voting rights for all.

These were their six major areas for reform:

  • Preventing barriers to the ballot box

  • Ending felony disenfranchisement

  • Expanding voter registration

  • Increasing voter participation and access

  • Strengthening election security

  • Creating structural reform

With Russian hackers attempting to disrupt our elections, inconsistent technology in voting machinesRepublicans trying to keep Black people from voting, and the Supreme Court overturning key parts of the Voting Rights Act, it’s never been more crucial for us to fight for our right to vote.

White supremacists don’t want us to vote, because then they can stay in power. Black people in America form a powerful voting bloc - but only if we all have the opportunity to exercise our right to vote.

And then actually go out and make it happen! Make sure you’re registered and haven’t been purged. Look into your next upcoming local election. And read up on who’s running for president in 2020! Black voting matters!
