14 years. That’s how long the CIA had been gathering evidence that several of its staff members were committing child sex crimes.
10 years. That’s how long it took journalists at Buzzfeed News to finally receive the reports they requested. And that secret information is nothing short of vile.
Employees admitted to things like sexual assault of a two-year-old, soliciting sex from children in chatrooms, and purchasing and distributing child pornography. These are the people hired to handle sensitive information in this country!
They even went as far as to watch child pornography on their work computers! One employee even said he didn’t “understand that it was a violation of agency policy to access child pornography.” What?
But here’s what we have to remember that makes this story even more sinister.
It took a decade to even get the CIA to release the declassified reports – meaning this information would have stayed secret had this unprecedented release not happened!
Not to mention, only ONE employee was actually charged with a crime.
It may not be surprising that the CIA covers up the harm committed within its ranks, but that doesn’t make their dishonesty any less dangerous. This system has violence built into its DNA – and abuse continues to be covered up even while old crimes get exposed!
