Many of us were wondering who was burning Black churches in Louisiana after media reports started flooding in. Now, a mysterious series of events has led us to some clarity on the matter and all fingers point to one man: Holden Matthews.
Holden is the son of a sheriff's deputy and that leads us to wonder if he’ll be getting special treatment now that he’s locked up. With multiple counts of arson and hate crime charges stacked against him, he could do a lot of time.
Holden left a twisted trail of proof leading back to himself. A lighter and rags that match evidence found at the scenes, plus Holden telling on himself on his phone, are just a few of the pieces of “substantial” evidence prosecutors have against him.
What Holden Matthews did fits the definition of terrorism, but he’s not being portrayed that way in the media. They’re busy wondering if the music he listened to had anything to do with his motivations - as if burning Black churches doesn’t have a long racist HISTORY.
Meanwhile, these Black churches still have to rebuild and they need all the help they can get. It’s sad that this is still happening in 2019 - just because we’ve survived it before doesn’t mean we should have to go through it again!
