Sen. Amy Klobuchar has been haunted by news about her past ever since she decided to run for president. Now, another story is in her face, troubling her reputation yet again. This time it’s directly linked to the murder of George Floyd - and she’s denying it all.
When Klobuchar was a district attorney, she prosecuted a teen named Myron Burrell. She did this even though there was insufficient evidence, AND his co-defendant confessed to the crime.
Now it’s been reported she once declined to bring charges against the officer who killed George Floyd.
Officer Chauvin was previously involved in a suspicious 2006 shooting, and many of the officers involved have a history of complaints. Klobuchar has denied that she would have been able to do anything at the time, since she’d been elected to the Senate, but we still have more questions.
Chauvin has been reviewed for three shootings total, and has had 17 internal investigations into him! He also had several complaints from his own peers. Despite this, Chauvin has continually gone unpunished and has not been held accountable.
Politicians like Sen. Klobuchar climb the ladder by overlooking people like Officer Chauvin every day. Meanwhile, poor Black people like Myron Burrell get brutally and severely punished.
District attorneys have so much power - we have to hold them accountable!
