Identical twin brothers Deontae and Deontrae love to challenge each other, and it’s that spirit that got them the highest achievement possible at their high school in Toledo, Ohio!
“We both like to compete against each other,” Deontrae told WTVG. “We want to score higher than each other.”
First-born twin Deontae came out on top as valedictorian with a 4.5 GPA, while Deontrae will be salutatorian with a 4.4 GPA.
The boys were so competitive that it was hard to tell who was going to get the top spot - because their GPAs kept switching between first and second place during the year!
And with full rides to Ohio State, these brothers have big plans. “After high school, we both want to major in electrical engineering and own our own engineering firm and minor in business,” Deontrae said.
In addition to being hard-working, they spent over 70 hours dedicated to community service while holding down jobs: “Me giving back is a way I can not only feel good as a person but also help change the community,” Deontae said.
These twin brothers are representing Black scholastic excellence and Black boy joy and we are all proud of their hard work and accomplishments! Best of luck, Deontae and Deontrae!
