Why Are Police Quick To Kill Us, But Not White Mass Shooters?
Remember John Crawford? He’s the young Black man who was killed by a police officer in an Ohio Walmart in 2014. The police were there because of a 9-1-1 caller who lied about Crawford threatening people with a gun he picked up in the store. Now, we’ve got some questions.
Officer Sean Williams fired two shots, killing Crawford. He killed him because he supposedly thought he was a threat, but if that’s what happens to threatening gunman in Walmart, then how can a white supremacist mass shooter in El Paso - who’d already KILLED 22 PEOPLE - not get shot?
This isn’t the first time a white man has gone on a killing spree and been taken alive. Dylann Roof, James Holmes, and Jared Lee Loughner are just a few other examples. Though they killed dozens, Black people minding our own business aren’t guaranteed the same safety from officer-involved shootings!
The truth is plain. If officers can subdue and disarm mass shooters who have already KILLED people, then why is Tamir Rice dead?
Why is Eric Garner dead?
Why is Tanesha Anderson dead?
Why weren’t they taken alive just the same?
Officers were ready to kill them.
When we say Black lives MATTER, this is what we mean. All Black people deserve the same rights that are afforded to white people. If a white mass shooter is guaranteed their human rights, then a Black person should be just the same. There’s no debating about this!
