Why Would You Get A Promotion For Lying At Work?

Darrell Williams was minding his business, and then everything changed - because an NYPD cop, Officer Xavier Gonzalez, LIED. Williams was arrested for allegedly picking pockets, but here’s why that was FALSE.

The cop made up the allegations, because the person Williams allegedly robbed verified it wasn’t true. So why would Gonzalez lie?

Officer Gonzalez lied because he wanted OVERTIME, and the New York Daily News exposed it all. They reported that “A process called ‘arrest overtime’ kicks in when an arrest is made near the end of an officer’s shift. It is coveted given overtime drives up an officer’s annual salary.”

What are the consequences? So far, NOTHING. The officer was promoted to detective in 2017 after what he did to Darrell Williams in 2016. And the District Attorney has yet to do anything about it. They wouldn’t even comment on the case when asked.

So a lying cop was essentially rewarded for lying. It’s no wonder police corruption is such a huge issue. Why would any cop do what’s right when what’s wrong is treated like it’s not a big deal?
