Beyoncé’s new “Before I Let Go” cover was included as a bonus track to her Homecoming: The Live Album (recorded during her historic Coachella performance that paid respect to HBCU culture).
When Frankie Beverly (frontman to the band Maze) got wind that the new single was embraced so happily by fans, he was stunned.
The original version has long been touted as what Billboard Music calls a “cultural touchstone”.
Yet old school artists and fans alike grow upset at times when newer artists remake old hits, but not Beverly. Turns out he LOVES it!
In an interview with Billboard he claimed “[Beyoncé’s] done so much, this is one of the high points of my life... I feel bigger than ever!”
Indeed, a whole new generation is busting a move - “this you can bet” - thanks to Beyoncé’s viral #BeforeILetGoChallenge.
Did you see Youtube user @qewly’s video of a group of National Pan-Hellenic Council members putting their Greek spin on the challenge? Or another user Tianne King’s super cute mother-daughter jam session?
