Donald Trump’s tax returns were released, and he didn’t pay taxes for a whole decade. He paid only $750 in income taxes in 2016 and 2017!
Working people are outraged the president pays less than they do, but there’s something important to realize about this.
We pay taxes, but many wealthy corporations DO NOT. At least 60 major companies did not pay ANY income tax as recently as 2018 according to the Center for Public Integrity. It’s not a new trend either, and it’s getting worse. Who’s doing it is even more frustrating.
Corporations like Amazon, Netflix, Chevron, Delta, and many more aren’t paying taxes!
While they rake in BILLIONS and pay no taxes, the impoverished Black Belt area in the South is the most heavily audited area in the nation. This isn’t a coincidence.
Systemic racism has poor Black people paying more than corporations – that also refuse to pay employees a living wage or provide healthcare!
Based on inflation, the minimum wage should be at least $12 an hour! This is massively hurting our communities.
The push to defund the police means reallocating money for community infrastructure and resources. Corporations like Amazon don’t pay taxes AND donate to police foundations. What they’re not paying contributes to issues the police won’t solve. It’s time to demand they pay!
