Queen Latifah isn’t just FOR the culture, she IS the culture. Her career spans nearly 4 decades, and her work has given us some legendary albums, films, TV shows, and more. Here’s why Latifah is most definitely our queen.

#1: Hip-hop/music royalty

Latifah entered the male-domintated rap game in 1989 with “Ladies First” and killed it, all while flaunting her beautiful thickness and demanding respect for herself and all Black women. Oh, and don’t forget she also dropped a jazz album that showcased her incredible singing voice!

#2: Pop culture icon

Latifah starred as Khadijah in the legendary sitcom Living Single. One of the highest rated shows of the 90s and it inspired many other successful shows, including the unseasoned knock-off Friends. Best of all, it normalized being young, Black, happy, and successful!

#3: Empowering our people

The Queen is a Hollywood A-lister who’s acting chops are well-documented. But she’s not satisfied with her fame. She’s working hard with “The Queen Collective” to ensure there are more Black people and especially Black women behind the camera.

This good sister has been in the game for decades and she has never failed to ride hard for our community, empower Black women, and spread self-love for the thick community! How could we not love her?

We have a quick favor to ask:
