20% of The Base’s prospective recruits were active-duty military or had served in the military before. This group hosts and plans paramilitary training exercises so they’re ready for violent conflict. What’s worse? They’re using law enforcement to their benefit.
White supremacists are attracted to law enforcement and the military for different reasons, but The Base knows they can get skills there they hope to use for their neo-Nazi agenda.
This is part of their leadership’s twisted plans – which also involve genocidal motivation.
Their leader was revealed to be Rinaldo Lazzaro, and under his leadership The Base is recruiting people by promoting “an ideology of all-out race war.” One member planned to target Black people at the mall with a machete! Of course, a judge later freed him.
The plans of The Base and their connections to the military are something that reinforces much of what Black America already knows – there are a lot of people organizing to do us great harm. They feel emboldened – and we need to be prepared for anything.
